Hi,

I am early in the process but looking at a Comanche 250 or later (but focusing on the 260 B and C). I fly for Pilots N Paws and find removing the seats in my 1977 Archer is a snap and required on a regular basis. I am thinking that such will not be the case for the earlier Comanches. It looks like beginning with the 260 B the bench seat was removed. I cannot find anything that tells me much about this so I thought someone might help me out in understanding how easy or difficult this will be as I figure out what airplanes will fit my mission.

Thanks, Scott

Hello:

I fly a Comanche 250 and occasionally remove the rear seat.  Something to keep in mind with the earlier models is that the only thing covering the hole is a fabric sheet held in place with some snaps.  I cut a piece of plywood that fits over this neatly and is held in place by gravity and the cargo.  It wasn't difficult to fabricate after some templating but it wasn't trivial either.

This opens up a huge amount of room.  I am unfamiliar with the arrangement of the later aircraft, my apologies.

Hi,

The 260B and C have individual back seats that are on rails.  They slide aft off of the rails and can either be taken out of the cabin door or the baggage door. They are much easier to removed than the bench seats in the earlier models.

Regards,

Cliff

Thanks so much for the replies.  Good to know that I can look further back - experimenting with fabricating a cover does not scare me off.

I have a 1964 Comanche 250 with a modified floor and Piper Lance seats.

This was a field modification and I could send you a copy of the 337 forms if that will help.
