Tachometer

Postby TBusch86303 » Wed Aug 05, 2015 4:13 pm

Tach quit on my 260C. Tried to order new Mitchell tach, but lead times are 1-3 months. Any suggestions? UMA, Westach?

I'm assuming you have already determined it is the tach vs the tach cable.

If you are willing to take a used tach to get you back in the air sooner until a new one is available, perhaps eBay or Controller etc.

The Home page here has list of parts suppliers - click on International Comanche Society above and look in right column under the scanning eyeballs for the place to click. It has hotlinks. Air Parts of Lock Haven O/Hs a lot of the original Comanche stuff. I've had good success with virtually each that are listed - just takes work.

Hope this helps. Please post which path you take so we can all learn. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the cable itself is good so I tried to order a replacement Mitchell tach with markings (500-2700) and hours. Lead time with Spruce is at least 1 month - more likely longer. Talked with Mitchell and they confirmed lead time - understaffed. Now looking at a UMA tach with electronic pickup from a mag or a sender mounted on the engine - both connect to the tach with a single 3 conductor cable. Anyone using one of these? or, other suggestions?

Any good instrument shop should be able to fix you up with a properly marked tachometer. Most have a generic or two on the shelf and will mark for a specific airplane.

I just put in an E.I. dig tach to replace my Horizon digital. I have the Electro-Air system installed and the Horizon tach could not read it. Just an FYI in case you are going digital in that 260.
