Replacement ASI
Not sure this is the correct place for this but I am at a dead end. I recently had the ASI in my 1960 250 pulled, believing it was not reading correctly. Turns out I was right it was off by 10kts. So the shop sends it out for repair. Long story short they believe it PN had been tampered with and will not repair it. Short of buying a new ASI for $1200 I am looking for a used replacement to hold me over till November with I put my G500 and ESI500 in. Is there anyone with a replacement I have called a lot of places with no luck.

Re: Replacement ASI
Have you tried the list of suppliers on this Home page - Lock Haven might help. Also try eBay

Re: Replacement ASI
If it is a short term replacement you could jam any old thing in there. Put the old one back and put a placard on it?

Re: Replacement ASI
I tried Lockhaven with no luck. As far as a temp, I am not going to put a bad ASI in my plane besides I am sure there is a Regulation against it. Patience will have to be my guide lol.

Re: Replacement ASI
Any good instrument shop should be able to fix you up. The will need to know where to paint the required markings in the new ASI and the airspeed range of the gauge. Most will want you old ASI to confirm the markings.

Contact Hai Nguyen at Aircraft Quality Instruments. They can overhaul yours, exchange it, or sell you a refurb one. I use them for just about everything at our flight school. Very reasonably priced and good turn around times.

Re: Replacement ASI
I just emailed them. Thanks. So I found out that the ASI that was in my plane was all jacked up. Someone removed a PN tag from a newer instrument and put it on it and went in and messed around inside and put stuff in it shouldn't have and the linkage was completely corroded. lol
