Re: Piper Autocontrol III
I believe that the Autocontrol IIIB and the Century IIB are equivalent.
The difference between the two are that the "B" models have a rocker switch to engage the autopilot which is held on by an electromagnet. This wires to the button on the yoke for A/P disconnect.

Re: Piper Autocontrol IIIB-1
Secondly, I have an Altimatic IIIB-1 and it does not have the disconnect on my piper yoke? I looked for one but did not find it. Looking at the instrument I see a on off white plastic rocker switch for roll. A marked altitude dial with a circular knob left down and right up. The engaging of the AP two left and right mid upper top plastic square push buttons.
We looked for the cut-off switch to disengage the AP but did not find one. The heading bug is on the DG and the AP is slave to the KLN 94 GPS map. The Altimatic works exception well much to my surprise. The aircraft is a 68 B model.
What's your thoughts………...
