Webco doesn't have it, Johnston Aircraft doesn't have it. Anyone?

Frank,

By chance have your tried a salvage yard such as ASOD.com Unfortunately, I've seen their bone yard of Comanches.

Thanks, Pat... that'll be my next stop. I was hoping for new, though...

Which are the best "boneyards" to try...?

Hope you have better response from ASOD than I did. Emailed them all info on part - one week later still no response. Called on phone gave all info and they said I will call you right back - its now a week and still no call.

Two possibilities... I'm thinking that I recall that there is a solid state replacement that some folks have used.

At one time Avionics Place in RFD had a couple of used ones... avionicsplace.com... talk to Dave Wright.

All the best!

Thanks, John... I'll give Avionics Place a call.

I've been interested in the solid state option, but haven't been able to find info on how to do that. I think it would at least involve an extra switch, and a remote mounted unit which could get hot. I'd love to find someone who's done it to compare notes with.

I hope Dave was able to help you... I'm trying to recall... but it seems that they installed a "more modern solultion" when they did a major panel job on the single that I had. I sold that airplane in 2004-05 so I'm not absolutely certain... but it sure seems like they did.

Hope you found something.

Dave had one of the original design rheostats, and is sending it to me. So, problem solved... thanks for the help! I'd go for the solid state, but the old way has worked fine 'til now, and is simpler to put back in, so should work out fine.

And by the way... I called ASOD several days ago... was told "call you back shortly"... haven't heard from them yet. Dave said "call you back in a few minutes", and did!
