Landing Gear lights not coming on
As I am finishing up this annual from hell, in the gear raise, I noticed the landing gear lights are not coming on. The bulbs appear to be fine and at one time, I saw the gear up light come on at full strength but went out shortly thereafter. Now I get a light glow like a weak glowplug, from the bulb but can't seem to come up with the reason why. Can anyone out there maybe give me some advice on what to check and maybe how to fix this problem. I am very close to flying but this is the last problem holding me up. Is there maybe a resister on this line that might be failing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Jim

Re: Landing Gear lights not coming on
Jim, sounds like a bad ground to the light. Have you worked behind the panel reently?
Could be either the ground wire or power wire to the bulb has loosened from the connector.
When I redid my panel those wires almost fell off the bulb connectors, so I would check those connections
first.

Re: Landing Gear lights not coming on
The person who did the panel, installed the lights wrong in that the green was on the top and the yellow was on the bottom. I just reversed that and connected the wires correctly. I am not sure about the ground in back of the panel, I will have to check that. Thanks for your help, Gary.

Re: Landing Gear lights not coming on
Jim, just to make sure. Have you checked your light dimmer switch and made sure it was clicked into the off position?
If you find that your wire connectors are ok, then while you are behind the panel check that the wiring to the dimmer switch are also OK.
If you find all in order there, then your next check is the flasher box.
Let us know what you find.

Re: Landing Gear lights not coming on
Gary,
I think you hit on something as I believe the dimmer switch is on, I will check again and make sure it's off. That might explain why the gear up was lit at one time. I turned on the dimmer to see if that had something to do with the problem and I don't think I turned it off. I will let you know, thanks.
