Instrument lighting

Postby Andrew Conroy » Wed May 14, 2014 9:06 pm

For the Comanche 250 owners out there, has anyone modified their panel light rheostat to the 260 wiring style?

The 250 adds the variable resistor between the bulb and airframe ground. The 260 passes the current through the variable resistor before the instrument lights.

Would this require a field approval etc? Somehow previous shops have jury rigged my century 2 autpilot lights and CDI gauge lighting to work but not well.

Other than this modification has anyone added a second panel light rheostat?

I have a 61 250.
I bought the two pot electronic dimmer from aircraft spruce. I have wedge lighting, the " nu lites"
One pot controls pilot side, other side controls lighting on the co pilot side. Avionics are tied into this as well. Works great.
