Wide deck or narrow deck?
How can I tell which engine I have in my 1962 0-540 A1D5 engine?
Im told one is easier to rebuild than the other...any thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Wide deck or narrow deck?
Look at the engine log and see if the serial number of the engine ends in "A". If not, you have a narrow deck. When looking at the engine, look at the base of the cylinders. If the cylinders are held to the case with round barrel nuts and half moon shaped plates underneath, you have a narrow deck engine.
