Tom,

FYI,

The gap setting is in the Service Manual, sorry don't know the page. Just make sure you check the gap. When I installed a new set about 2 months ago they were off from the factory.

Jeff,
Thanks for the reply, the service manual calls for 0.018 to 0.022 I assume these gap settings are the same for Rem 38/40 + the fine wires a good average would be 0.020 does this sound correct. ?
Thanks Tom c.

Those are the gap settings for massive electrode plugs. I would check with Tempest before I tried to adjust fine wire plugs. I think that they have a different gap. They usually do not require any adjustment after installation.

Tom,
There is a fine wire gap tool that is available from most of the big supply houses that is quick and intuitive to use. It has a fixed gap measurement based on the size of the wire electrode. I don't know the dimension off hand but it's what I have used for years and have great results.

Thanks JEFF jim & ZACH,

I Will look for the gap tool & go for .019 inches the Iridum plugs are in the Engs now and running nice & smooth with the gaps all over the place .017 to .021 as per Tempest "CAUTION DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RE-GAP PLUGS", I'm to anel not to have them all @ the same setting I actually think I might be able to tell the difference, must be that military airline stuff still in my brain.

Thanks TOM c.
