PA30 ALTERNATOR IDLER PULLEY BEARING

Postby Frank Brunot » Wed Apr 23, 2014 7:45 pm

Might anyone happen to know of a cross-reference part number for the dual-race ball bearing that fits inside of the alternator idler pulley on a Twin Comanche?

The Lycoming part number is #78629, as referenced in Service Instruction 1249. Lycoming wants $166 for the bearing; similar bearings from vendors like Timken cost $12-15!

Or better yet, does anyone have a contact at Lycoming Purchasing who could tell us the vendor for that bearing.

Thanks all .. I just answered my own question.

I went through J&J Air Parts, who referred me to KRN, who listed the alternate part number to the Lycoming 78629 number.

The alternate part number is 5201SBKZZ, made by MRC. They are available from several places for around $45. Sure beats $166 from Lycoming distributors!
