oil filter addition

Postby Tim Eason » Sat Jan 04, 2014 1:23 am

Does anyone have any advice for for adding oil filters to PA-30 engines with screens. Are there kits for this?

The standard Lycoming oil filter adapter will bolt right into the same place as the screen adapter with only a log book entry. Both the screen and the oil filter adapter are listed in the Lycoming parts manual for the IO320-B1A and the O540 series engines. There are a couple of manufacturers that have PMA parts.

I ended up getting the oil filter adapters from WEBCO. I talked to lycoming and they wanted 650 for the kit for each engine. The webco product was 200 for each engine. The lycoming kit had a few extra parts(studs and nuts) but the price difference was too much to overcome. The stuff from Webco is great.
