Re: Exhaust System
The only aftermarket one that I am aware of is from APP who advertises in the flyer. For a # of reasons I think it is a good product and the products they sell have a good rep. It does appear that some people have found them to be hard to deal with but I base this solely on past forum comments. I have no personal experience.
The APP product essentially duplicates the 260 twin exhaust. That is what I have and if you fly in a warm area you will appreciate how much cooler the cockpit is after you move the exhaust away from the firewall.
Good luck, Don

Re: Exhaust System
I really can't answer that question as I never had the earlier system on my aircraft and don't have enough time in a 250 to make a comparison. I like the Harleyesque sound of the dual exhaust and don't find it too loud in the cabin although admittedly I have always used headsets. I imagine there would be a slight increase in performance due to less back pressure.

Re: Exhaust System
Just finished installing the dual exhaust in our 61 carbureted 250. Dave's product quality is outstanding. It's a much better system, utilizing slip joints, and stainless steel tubing. Dave support is great. He just gave me his cell number and always picked up with my many numerous questions during the install. I am very happy with the result. It also eliminates the recurrent muffler inspection AD.
Is it any louder? I would say no louder, but different. More throaty perhaps. Admiringly I have only been able to take a few test flights with the new system, and that was with the interior completely removed. Right after the install it went in for some avionics work.
The installation is not too difficult. I am a do it yourselfer , and with the help of my IA got it done. It took me about 40 hours for the install, but I addressed other issues while it was disassembled , ie oil return lines, intake gaskets, chaffing prevention, etc.
It definitely will help get rid of all that heat on the firewall. That was my main reason for the switch.
Good luck
Andrew
