Exhaust Support for 180
I have my 180 with the standard exhaust at Cliff W's for annual. He mentioned that he had seen some planes that have a support for the muffler that is attached to the engine. Do any of you 180 owners that have a support installed have a picture that I could send to Cliff?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Exhaust Support for 180
Jerry, I went through this last year with much frustration and still have no support on my exhaust on 180. I commend you if you have found an A&P that will do it. I received several posts and one member - Dave G - sent me a one piece support he had fabricated for his 180 before he put dual exhaust on it. Due to mounting location of my back up vacuum it would not work without moving things. My A&P agreed to install and then backed out stating that if one was needed Piper would have put it on. He had also agreed to fabricate a support for me as explained by Bill Creech in the ICS Comanche Tips Manual, Chap 2 Engine page 2-1 which next to last page of chapter as page numbers are not in an order. I contacted Bill and he does not have a photo of this support. A&P then backed out on that also - now have new shop who has agreed to put one on at annual time. The one in Tips Manual is a two piece support which I believe will be very good. If you do get a photo of one would you share it with me?
Good luck.
John

Re: Exhaust Support for 180
John,
Cliff talked with Zach and has seen the Tips article and Piper's SL 412A for the 250s and has agreed to fabricate one for me. I do not have a back up vacuum system, but will be sure to post pics of what Cliff comes up with.
