Exhaust manifold needs work, any suggestions.
About finished my annual and noticed some blow-by from #1 and #5 exhaust manifold at the head. When I removed the manifold and put a machine square over the flanges it was obvious that the middle flange #3 was low a twitch. Evidently when the middle flange was torqued to the head it rocked the the other two a bit allowing some blow-by. Head surface and manifold surfaces all look good.
Can anyone recommend where I can get the manifold flanges ground or milled parallel again?
Thanks
D. Kane

How much are they out....001" or 1", it makes a big difference. It it is very small difference, just set it up on a long band sander and you can match themup with very little effort. As for if they are way out, and sandng them would make the other two flanges too thin, then a cut and weld would be in order. Many shops do this, Dawley, Acorn, many localy FAA certified welders could do the work also.

Zach The #3 flange was a maybe a tall 16th of an inch off. Found someone with a flat plate so we could see the difference and was able to get a $35.00 flat grind on them.
