Carb air box coupling

Found some small holes in the air box coupling 16559-00 and would like to know if anyone has ever repaired a similar problem and the technique used for the repair.

Ours was in such sad shape we did not even look into repairing it. In November of 2015, we replaced ours with a new one ordered thru Webco. It was about $265.
