I am installing a JPI EDM-830........and I am unable to get a very accurate number to give JPI for the gallons per hour on Take Off??? The performance charts have it indicating 21.5gph for Climb. Is that pretty accurate? Any other 260 Turbo owners out there that could help me out with that, it would be much appreciated!!!

The takeoff fuel flow spec is a Lycoming spec that could be obtained by contacting Lycoming or any accessory shop that sets up services or overhauls fuel systems as these are all adjusted to the prescribed spec on the flow bench. It will be given in a range and will probably be somewhere in the 25-29 gph range, but I don't have the spec in front of me.

I spoke with lycoming today (I am putting in a lycoming rebuilt) and they indicated that they do not have any information other than what is in the "owners manual" for the engine which coincides with same number as in the POH. 21gph.

I was just hoping someone had a more definitive answer before going with the 21gph.

Eric,
I believe you are not asking the correct question. The question should be, what is the specification for the allowable sea level fuel flow at full rated power for the IO-540-xxxx? Don't mention the airplane as it has nothing to do with this spec. Trust me 21 gph is no where close. Lycoming knows, they aren't telling you for some reason. Try a call to Precision Fuel Systems or Western Skyways as they do their own accessories in house. If you use 26 gph for full rated power you will be in the ball park.

I think Zach is right. By way of comparison our Cirrus aircraft, which uses a similarly sized (slightly larger) CMI IO-550N has Sea Level max power fuel spec of 27GPH.
