Belly Strobe Light PA24-250

Postby JKW » Tue Oct 14, 2014 4:10 am

My belly strobe light has stopped working and I would like to understand my options. I called Webco to see if a replacement bulb was available thinking that was likely the problem, however they had never seen the strobe assembly that I have (see attached picture).

Does anyone know who the manufacturer of this type of strobe might be as it doesn't seem to be nameplated that i can find? Is there any chance that a bulb can be found for this ?

Are there any other options that i should be considering ?

Thanks for any help here.

Jason

I have one that still works. It's used, but you can have it until you have a final solution. They are from a Hoskins (I think). I looked for quite a bit when my top strobe went out found some somewhat similar, but no exact match. I than replaced both top and belly strobes with Whelen LED. They are much brighter.

When my belly strobe started making noises in the radio, I replaced it with an LED beacon. I love it. I think it is more visible.

Kristen,

I would like to replace my belly strobe with an LED; wich one did you use? I was looking on knots 2U but didn't see one. I replaced my landing, nav and tail beacon lights with LED a while back and love them. I was also thinking of replacing to tail position light with LED.

Thanks,

Mark

I replaced it with a Whelen that is a drop in replacement.

Same here - Whelen LED beacons for both top and bottom. They draw a fraction of the amps and should last forever. Much brighter as well!

If you search in these forums I know I've listed the model number before. Depending on the size of the hole in your fuselage, you either get just the beacon or the beacon plus an adapter plate that will need painted.

It looks like Knots 2U has it for about $500; the tail cone light for about $200.

Thanks,

Jason,

I don't know if I'm screwing up the responses or my emails going to a junk folder. I understand you would like the strobe still. It is all boxed up ready to go. I have your address but not your last name. I guess ups would like that.
