Trouble with landing gear horn

My 39 gear horn and stall warning are different - I believe that is also the case for your 30. I haven't looked it up but the maintenance manual might help. It 's on this web site in the technical section. FYI. My stall warning beeps, my gear horn is a deeper continuous buzz/blare until power is added or the gear is down.
if this plane is new to you - never mind the below as it didn't happen on your watch - hats off to you for identifying it.
I know it can't help you now but in the future I'll pass along a suggestion. This is one of those post annual or avionics work check items we have on our list. We climb to 5000' agl over the airport and pull the power back and wait to hear the gear horn. We like to have two on board during these checks so one is looking for traffic. As you might guess we learned this one the hard way when our gear horn didn't sound one day when we were checking stuff and had to go back to the shop later. It is also why we audible gear down on final check. I'm trying really hard not to have a gear up ... after overhauled engines, panel reno, interior and paint - I would be really, really mad at myself.
Best of luck in getting the horn operational again.

These little beauties can be "cleaned" in an ultrasonic bath using a basic [ammonia is basic] solution. The plastic cover can be pried off [carefully - it's a thermoset] for access to the internals.
Notably, Piper also had a solid-state version under the same part number 460-901; I've only seen one of those.
