main landing gear side brace studs

Postby Rick Langley » Mon May 02, 2011 7:08 pm

The AD requires 1000 hour inspection of these. Can an IA mechanic just magnaflux these or do they need to be sent out for inspection? I priced a pair of new studs for a little shy of $400 so they are not cheap! Hope mine are OK. What are you guys doing with these? Thanks.

Hi,

I have 2 pair. One in the a/c and the other inspected and ready to go for the next 1000 gear inspection. My IA sends them out for magnafluxing. When compared to the bolts in the stabilator, or the bearings for that matter, $400 doesn't sound too bad.

Good luck, Don
