Leaking strut but not from seal
My PA24 (1960) has a main strut which has been slowly losing pressure (goes flat in 7-10 days). A seal kit was installed last year. It seemed to help but the problem is now more pronounced. Just had a call from my AP that there is a leak from "around a collar/clamp by a rivet". He attributes the leak to a corrosion of the strut housing and advises replacing the entire assembly. Having done a little research, I suspect the leak is from the cracked strut housing already described on the Comanche web site.
I'm pretty ignorant about the oleo struts, but does it sound like I'm on the right track? Comanche Gear has rebuilt housings. I'm going to call there in the AM.
