Check your limit switches. My flaps suddenly stopped retracting. I found that the limit switch had old grease on it and would not let the "plunger" come back out after it was pushed in. If I pulled it out with my fingers, they retracted. You might have the same issue with gear limit switch.

Hello Dennis,

Hopefully you've found your problem by now.

In case you haven't I'd check the gear motor circuit breaker. The solenoid is on a different circuit, since you can hear that operating that suggests the control circuit is working.

The other possibility is you have a bad segment on the gear motor. If the gear motor circuit breaker is ok try carefully turning the rubber coupling between the motor and the gearbox at the rear of the transmission.

It's my guess it's the gear circuit breaker. You said the gear went up and down 5 times, if that was in quick succession it's possible for the circuit breaker to trip especially if it's getting a bit old.
