Looking for a southern CA Avionics Shop

Postby 17031 » Fri Apr 25, 2014 4:55 pm

I have purchased all the components for a major avionics upgrade (GPS, GPSS, MX20, etc.) and I'm looking for a shop to install in my 260B. Any recommendations?

Tim,
I like Megahertz, just down the road from you in Bakersfield.
As you may know, Richard Kurtz flies a Twin Comanche himself, and he and Sally are long time supporters of ICS and the SW Tribe.

They've done 3 panel upgrades for me, 2 in my previous 250, and the last one in my 30B. They had no problem with me having supplied several of the avionics, and even bought some of the removed stuff from me.

My liking for them was recently reinforced by a bad experience with a shop up here. Then communicating with Richard for advice, with him offering and sending me a loaner box. Hard to beat that!

Best of luck, whatever your choice.

Regards, Don

Tim,

I'm here in Chino, Ca. I have used both Advantage Avionics (Ask for Mark Krueger) at Chino and Howard Aviation at Brackett airport in Pomona, CA (ask for Robin Howard) they have both been very good to me in the past. They are both a little high in price but I haven't gone back for trouble. Both have good customer service and are friendly. Check them out.

I recently did an aspen pro instalation with affordable avionics in chino. De pun is the owner, and does have comanche experience. If you're a do it yourselfer you can save some money by removing the interior. Advantage was 2 k higher , Howard's almost 3 k. We had a very bad experience with Howard's when our king hsi was installed, so I cannot recommend them. Advantage has a very good reputation . Western here at my home field , orange county, also does stellar work, but again at a premium. They did an excellent job on installing our audio panel along with all new intercom system.
We were on a short budget, so affordable was a good fit. No jets there , just us little guys. No fancy office, or sparkling clean hanger, but they did do a clean professional job. I liked thier installers, they were friendly, knowledgable , and appreciative of the work. I recommend them highly
Just my two cents

Thanks all. I have another issue to work through right now and will follow up with these shops then.
