At the Clifton Maintenance Seminar run by CPTP, Comanche Pilot Training Program, Inc. they gave us a list of stuff we can do. Bungees were described as replacing elastic shock absorber cords on landing gear. My interpretation of that is bungees is something we can do - like changes tires under item c. Preventive Maintenance item 2.
They did carefully say the list was for reference only and the current info would be at FAR 43, APP.

Going to work on a compressed grease design tool for my next installation though. I hate turning that nut a quarter turn at a time!
