Throttle/Prop/Mixture Knobs (PA-30 Cockpit)

Postby David Pfeffer » Tue Oct 30, 2012 2:58 pm

Anyone have a source for the throttle/prop/mixture knobs?

Better yet, anyone have the standard colors to repaint? The polyurethane may be more expensive than purchasing the knobs new however, so if a source is known, that'd be greatly appreciated. This is purely cosemetic.

Same goes for the throttle quadrant decal (for the throttles/props/mixture). Any sources?

Thanks,
David

Try Webco, Aviall, KRN, Preferred Airparts, etc.

These are tough to get a hold of. So far, nobody has the 24049-00 throttle knobs. If anyone knows of a source, I'd greatly appreciate it. Nothing at Webco, Preferred, Aviall, KRN, or other surplus vendors I've checked with.

Webco btw does have the throttle quadrant decals if anyone needs them. They're under $20.

My research indications that it might have a new part number -- 571-045. You could try that.

A rod of black delrin the correct diameter and some patience with a dremel tool and you could make a couple that might look pretty decent.

I was finally able to acquire the prop and mixture knobs, but will just have to paint the the throttles.

For anyone that needs them in the future, part numbers are listed below. Webco used to have a subcontractor fabricate these but no longer does, so they're all out and are tough to come by.

There are prop knobs available overseas, but can't find anymore on Parts Base available in the US in new or new surplus condition (Dodson and Wentworth have used ones though). I managed to grab the last two I could find on Parts Base in the US, but hopefully more will pop up.

There are no throttle knobs available I could find (except for salvaged).

Mixture knobs are readily available from multiple Piper parts dealers, including KRN Aviations Services.

$10 is the going rate for used/servicable knobs (either throttle, mixture, or prop). Brand new (for those you can find) ran me between $3.50 and $15/ea depending on where I could find them.

Throttle Knob, black - p/n: 571-045 or 24049-00
Prop Knob, blue - p/n: 24047-00 (no alt. p/n)
Mixture Knob, Red - p/n: 571-044 or 24048-00
