Strobe Power Pack Location

Postby Jerry Mazza » Mon Apr 21, 2014 12:44 pm

The Whelen strove power pack has gone bad on my Twinco. Does anyone know where they are located on the plane?
Thanks, Jerry

Jerry,

Hard to say where yours is, my Twin's was/is in the aft portion of the fuselage. Got a replacement a few years back.

Any chance it is underneath the top rotating beacon?

In the 260B I owned... it was in the aft portion of the airplane.. on a shelf back there... close to the ELT. Same in my Twinco.

Mine is exactly where Jim describes, on the radio shelf which is immediately behind the rear bulkhead. Replaced mine abut a month ago.

Good luck, Don

Try right under the wingtips...

M Comanche 250 strobe driver boxes are in the wings just inboard of the tips.

If you are referring to the beacon on the tail, it is either a self contained unit; meaning it has its own power pack or, for older strobe systems, it is a box on the shelf next to the ELT behind the aft bulkhead. If you are referring to the Whelen belly strobe, it is a self contained unit.

I found it. It was on the radio rack behind the baggage compartment, and it was bad. Thanks for the help. Jerry
