PA 30 Alternator Plane Power replacement

Postby michael pons » Thu Jan 01, 2015 5:54 pm

I am in need of replacing an alternator and have the Inter av 1255a and was considering the Plane Power replacement. Allegedly it's about 2 pounds lighter but more importantly runs cooler and more efficiently.

Does anyone haver experience with the Plane Power?

The folks who have it have said many positive things hopefully they will also post here.

I have changed out two systems. One on my airplane and one on a client's airplane. Rock solid!

I installed the Plane Power TAL-12-70 in my PA-30 last Summer and I'm very pleased with the set-up in spite of a few tweaking issues. There are a number of other threads that discuss the installation that are worth searching for. Perhaps not an issue if you are coming from other alternators but if coming from generators (which was my situation) new (longer) belts are needed.

Two other forum threads worth reading that contain Plane Power install details:

Thanks for the posts. Will I be able to use the existing Interav brackets for the Plane Power?

gratefully Mike

The only thing needed for the conversion from generators was the belts.
Smooth change-over and smooth operations after.
