PA-24 side air vent
My PA-24 rear passenger side air vent will not stay closed (not to bad in the summer, not so good in the winter). I have noticed in the other three vents a dime sized piece of metal with raised bumps that hold the vent in the selected position this piece is missing in the faulty vent. I have searched the tips book, but find no information for repairing or replacing these vents. If I must replace this vent is there a source for how to do it and a source for parts??
Any information would be a great help.

Re: PA-24 side air vent
Just went through the same problem, had problem for 2 years and one A&P said he fixed it - (twice) - did not work but about 3 times and back to broken. Changed shops and during new interior instal the new shop did fix it & works good. He told me about making some small part that was broken, I do not remember exactly, but I think I recall him saying they saved a template of the part for future use.
I am going back in couple days, probably Wednesday, to schedule an annual. I can ask him about this "part" and let you know.

Re: PA-24 side air vent
John, can you include me on this as well? I have had to screw one of my side vents shut because of the identical problem-- there is a washer with detents on it that provides friction. When this breaks and falls off, the vent simply blows open. Webco does not have replacements.
Thanks,
Warren Bishop
