New Decals for Yokes

Postby Larry Biever » Sat Dec 08, 2012 5:50 pm

I just put new yokes in my 180, but they don't have the Comanche decals or even a Piper decal on the center cover plate. Any suggestions on where I would track these down?

Thanks
Larry

Larry,

Have you already tried the folks who advertise in the Flyer like Comanche Gear, Heritage Aero, Clifton Aero, Webco, ASOD?

I've checked Webco and Comanche Gear's websites, but haven't tried calling. I'll also try the other 3 companies you've listed - thanks for the names.

Larry, I might have a set of the inserts that fit the old yokes... what is the size and shape of what you need?

Hi Larry:

If you are speaking of the ram's horn style, I believe Wentworth has make duplicates.

When I switched to Aerostar yokes, none of the Comanche decals would fit. I ended up getting two of the then modern recent US silver dollars and attached same to cover the holes with a touch of cement. The dollars were then about 8 bucks each and had a ounce of silver content. They have one side with the US eagle with spread wings that I faced into the cockpit. A bit of silver polish now and then keeps them like new.

It's interesting that with silver now at $30/oz + they are probably worth at least 5 times what I paid for them! Wish the PA30 had similarly appreciated!
