New Cotrol Yokes

Postby Kristofer Duckett » Fri Jul 22, 2011 4:33 am

Hi All,

Where can one find new style control yokes for a PA-24 250. I would like the newer style yokes with trim and PTT bulit in the yoke itself. Thoughts?

Kris

Hi Kris:

I am also looking for new yokes but want the C model yokes. They are very hard to find. An alternate solution is to install Navajo or Cheyenne
yokes and with a 337 you are good to go. Matt Kurt has refurbished yokes at Comanche gear. Look him up on his website he has some pictures of the
refurbished yokes.

A word of caution. the Navojo/ cheyenne yoke hand grips do not angle inward as do the piper comanche C-model yokes.
I am 6 foot 3" and I find I have to "spread" my legs when doing a full aileron deflection.. that is why I am looking for the C-model yokes.

However the Navojo yokes do look nice and are 100 times better than the original yokes. The trim switch is easy to use and the ptt and transponder ident
button makes fumbling for the right switch a thing of the past. I never did get used to that trim toggle mounted under the top bar of the original yoke.

That said still looking for the C-model yoke.

attached is a picture of my new panel/new yokes during the "smoke test"... :D

My aircraft came to me with AeroStar yokes. Only problem I've noticed is that I have to roll the yoke slightly to open the vent window on landing.

You might contact Aircraft Recovery Services in Pearblossom, CA. They have a wrecked C model twin. The insurance company may still own it, but ACS is likely to bid on the salvage so you might get first in line for the yokes. The plane didn't burn, so the yokes might be OK.

You can also try Air Salvage of Dallas and get on their list.

Thanks Kristin.
I e-mailed both yards for dibs on any pa-39 yokes that come up.
