Nesting Birds

Perhaps this has been covered adequately elsewhere...but a newbie question: given the various fuselage openings because of the retract design...what do you do to win the war with the NESTING BIRDS???

Mike,

Welcome to Comanche ownership. I'm fortunate to have the twin in a hangar but even there dirt daubers can invade. I put a pitot cover on even inside. Some folks use engine cowl plugs and fuselage covers ... beyond that, good pre-flights.

Mike,

One guy at my airport has a big plastic Owl hanging from his plane port above his C-206. Another guy in a hanger leaves a rado playing music 24/7. Not sure if either work. Just fly more! :)

Regards, Mark

If I didn't have a hangar, I would probably have a cowling cover that wrapped around enough to cover the inlets and the wheel well opening. I would have a tail cover or at least some foam pieces to cover the tail openings. I wouldn't worry too much about the main gear as you can pretty easily check those out on the pre-flight and clean out as necessary.

Mike,

I've been spring cleaning the aircraft files and found a brochure for Bruce's custom covers I picked up somewhere - it reminded me that they have lots of covers designed for Comanches. They advertise in the Comanche Flyer and are on page 39 of the May issue or https://www.aircraftcovers.com/general- ... 4-comanche is the link to PA24 covers.

Hope this helps.

Pat
