need plastc interior side vent knob

Postby Randy Johnson » Sun Jun 26, 2011 2:20 pm

Time has caught up with the plastic side vent knob that services rear passenger seat (piper part number 471-095) Its dark brown in color. Any ideas where I can get one? Also need a heading knob set screw or new knob for directional gyro (550-676)...I am assuming piper no longer offers these...thanks for the help in advance!

Randy:

Make that 2 of us. My front cabin door vent knob broke yesterday. I figured I jump in here as well in case anyone might know of a supplier. I love my aircraft, but its age is sure making it hard to find certain parts  . I will be looking throughout the day today to find them. If I have any luck I will post back and let you know.

Those are non structural interior pieces, as such, you can pretty much substitute any servicable knob that fits on the the shaft as an owner part, and sign it off yourself as preventitive maint. Replace all 4 as a matching set. Talk to an interior shop if you are having trouble sourcing. They will be able to help.

As a follow up...found a side vent knob at preferredairparts.com. Wrong color...its grey and I need dark brown ...but I can paint it. Spoke to a young man named Ryan who was terrific...costs 13 bucks plus shipping.

I replaced mine with machined aluminum knobs, easily available on the internet. Much sturdier and better looking.

Hey Terry,

Where did you machine your knobs from. I too am looking for new knobs.
