Manual Flap Lever Dust Boot

The dust boot on my Comanche needs to be replaced.
I was thinking of replacing it with an automotive gear shifter leather dust boot. Has anyone tried this? Any issues or concerns with doing this?
If an issue, know where can I find a replacement?
