Flaps problem
Flaps not holding. Have a 1960 180 with manual flaps. The flaps won’t lock in unless you are VERY careful when selecting 1-3 notches. This wasn't a huge concern, but yesterday the flaps were in "2 notches" and SNAPPED to one on final. Fortunately I wasn't in ground effect yet and there was no "consequence." Has anyone experienced this problem and what was the fix?

Re: Flaps problem
i had same problem, we open wing inspection hatch and found a bird nest interfering with the lock mechanism. This was on my ferry flight when i bought the plane, i have some headaches with the old manche but all problems are gone and hes flying like a champ.

Re: Flaps problem
You need to clean the locking mechanism at the base of the johnson bar. It is under the floor and usually gets lots of crap stuck in it and thus wont latch well. The probalem that Alejandro had is with the step up lock, and thos up stops are in the wing and accessible through the gear well with the liners removed.
