Aileron Hinge Replacement Kit

Postby Raul » Thu Nov 06, 2014 6:12 pm

My 250 is coming up on 1,000 hrs. TTAF, and is facing having to replace the aileron hinges. Does anyone know where I can find the replacement kit (Pt .No. 760-914) at a reasonable cost and within a reasonable time? Your help please!!

There is a guy been trying to sell kits on eBay. He has been trying to get $600 for a very long time.

Wow!

Less than 1000TT is unheard of. The AD calls for inspection of the spars at 1000 hours and each 100 hours thereafter until the outer hinges are replaced. If you can't find a set you're stuck inspecting. It would be worth asking if you can do them as owner produced.

Thanks for the responses. I was aware of the $600 set. Must be gold plated.

Inspecting is actually quite easy, and with only 1000 hrs so far, it might be a while until you get to the next 100 hr requirement. It will take less than an hr to inspect both sides.

If you would like to replace check the salvage yards, They are not gold plated there.

They are not gold plated, they are made of aerospace grade "unobtainium" one of the most rare substances.

By chance does anyone have a copy of the installation instructions for Piper Kit 760-914 (or know where I can get a copy)? I have the kit installed already according to my maintenance records, but I'd like to see the install instructions.

Thanks,

- Charles
