How are you updating the POH to meet the requirements for AD 2015-24-05?

Two answers:

1) If you are using the newer ICS AFM, the required statement per the AD is already in there and no additional change is needed (it's in my copy anyways).

2) If you are using the original Piper AFM: The text of the AD spells out what's needed. It actually allows you to create your own supplemental page. In the body of the AD it says with regard to this: "If the Limitations Section of the applicable POH/AFM does not contain the exact text found in Table 2 of Piper Aircraft, Inc. Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 1266, dated December 16, 2014, then revise the POH/AFM by inserting into the Limitations Section of the POH/AFM a fabricated supplemental page containing the applicable placard text from the Appendix to this AD or a supplemental page obtained from Piper Aircraft, Inc. at the address identified in paragraph (l)(3) of this AD."

All of the original AFM reports (the stapled pages not the book, that is the POH) contained the required language as a required placard. Any aircraft that did not have the placard installed has been unairworthy since the date it was removed. As Charles stated all of the ICS AFM/POH contain the required verbiage in Section 2, and is FAA approved so no further action is required unless you do not have the placard on your panel in full view of the pilot.

Within Service Bulletin No. 1266, dated December 16, 2014 it provides the text for the placard, which is different from the placard in my PA-24 260C. My placard ends with “less than ¼ full” the change is “less than ½” full. Of course I’m updating it but was wondering when the text changed? The previous superseded SB 456A did not list the text. If the text was changed years ago what was the purpose of the new AD.

Thank you for the input,
Charles Peterson
